HOW TO APPLY

Recommended order of work.

  1. 01Pressure-wash or scrub the surface: chalk, dust and mildew kill adhesion.
  2. 02Spot-prime repairs, bare wood and stains with a dedicated primer.
  3. 03Apply with a 3/8" to 1/2" nap roller or sprayer in even coats; 2 coats required.

PRO TIPS

  • Two coats always: this is not a one-coat paint.
  • Rough stucco or porous masonry: expect the low end of the range (250 sq ft/gal).
  • Order all gallons at once and box (intermix) them to avoid batch color shift.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you open the can.

How many square feet does a gallon of BEHR Premium Plus Exterior cover?

The data sheet declares 250-400 sq ft per gallon per coat depending on application method and substrate. At the PintaClaro practical reference of 350 sq ft/gal, a gallon covers about 175 sq ft of wall with two coats. Rough stucco can drop that toward 125 sq ft.

How many gallons for a 2,000 sq ft house exterior?

A typical 2,000 sq ft single-story home has roughly 2,200-2,600 sq ft of siding after openings. At 350 sq ft/gal per coat and 2 coats, budget 13-15 gallons — more on rough stucco, which can push demand toward 20 gallons.

Is Premium Plus Exterior good enough, or should I buy Ultra or Marquee?

Premium Plus is the budget tier: with thorough prep (washing, scraping, spot-priming) it performs well for rentals, sheds and short-hold repaints. For chalky substrates, dramatic color changes or a forever-home finish, Ultra or Marquee have more binder and tolerate imperfect surfaces better.

How is this different from the paint calculator?

Here you see the coverage of one specific product per container. The calculator converts your actual square footage into a purchase in gallons, quarts and pails.

Orientative data with manufacturer sources. Actual coverage depends on the surface, the tool and the application technique.
